Where to Enjoy the 4th of July in NYC

Where to Enjoy the 4th of July in NYC

The 4th of July is upon us and (unfortunately) smack in the middle of the week this year. For those that are staying put in NYC, there are plenty of ways to celebrate our fine nation’s independence. The Macy’s Fireworks show has moved a bit farther north along the East River this year, but that doesn’t mean the party has to stop anywhere else in NYC! There are a plethora of parties and barbecues happening across the city in backyards and gardens, rooftops and lots, and on boats and barges. Make sure to snag tickets to these select events before they sell out.

Classic Harbor Line Fireworks Cruise

Classic Harbor Line is my absolute favorite sailing company in New York City. They have classic sail boats that fit between 20 and 60 guests and provide a really intimate and fun outing. I’ve taken their sunset sail and their brunch cruise and both have been a blast. You can get tickets to their firework cruises here.

The Brooklyn Barge

You can’t get any closer to the Brooklyn waterfront than at the Brooklyn Barge. The barge is set right off of a huge lot in Greenpoint with picnic tables, plenty of seating, and an open area for mingling. The views of both the Brooklyn and Manhattan waterfronts are incredible, and they will be grilling up a family-style bbq from 5-10pm. The bar is located on the floating barge and serves local spirits, beers and wines. You can hang out on the barge or on land – but either way, I bet the unobstructed views of the firework show will make it a night to remember. Tickets can be purchased here.

Star Spangled Cook-Out

The Williamsburg Hotel is hosting a 4th of July Star Spangled Cook Out! The hotel is rather new to the Williamsburg scene and has a really swanky vibe, lovely décor, and an awesome rooftop. For $150, you can get rooftop access, bbq buffet-style and front row seats to the Macy’s Fireworks show. Find tickets here.

4th of July Night Market

LIC Flea and Food is hosting a huge 4th of July event that’s free to all attending. Food and drinks from local vendors are available for purchase, the same as they would be any time you visit the flea market. It’s located a block behind the Pepsi Cola sign along the Long Island City waterfront and is the perfect place to spend time before and/or after viewing the fireworks. You can find more information on the vendors and location here.

Coney Island Boardwalk

For those that prefer to spend the day at the beach, Coney Island is always a fun and economical way to enjoy your Independence Day. The hot dog eating contest takes place in the morning, and the annual fireworks show is expected to begin at 9:30 PM near the West 12th Street section of the boardwalk.

No matter how you decide to spend your holiday, I wish you an awesome, safe and exciting 4th of July. 🇺🇸
